First Look
The first thing that struck me when I opened up the watch was the thickness. Although the case is really no thicker than the original Seiko 6309-7040, a thicker caseback as well as a 5mm thick domed Sapphire crystal make this one seem quite beefy. With the 007 installed, and looking at the watch from a top view, it seems quite similar to the 6309-7040.

Dome & Lugs
HOWEVER...looking at the watch from the side, the drilled 22mm lugs are apparent, as well as the sloping of the bezel and the extra thick domed sapphire crystal. The bezel on the finished product will see the insert sloping seemlessly to the sapphire xtal.

Caseback
The caseback is thicker than the original..this, along with the extra thick crystal and gaskets increase the watch's water resistance FAR above the original to which it pays homage. Although it will be rated at 333M for nostalgic purposes, this one will be tested to it's limit, and shoulg easily pass a 50ATM testing. The caseback is sterile now but will be stamped.

Drilled Lug
The cushion case is sleek, and very well executed with superb machining. The drilled lugs facilitate strap changes..

On the wrist
On the wrist, just like other cushion cased divers, the watch lacks nothing in the comfort department. It has a very solid feel.
